1. I Know Direct Mail (Digital Too).
I've been doing this a long long time. I learned my craft from the top circulation consultants in the business. My work was judged in spreadsheets, not on easels.
2. I'm Reachable 18/7.
IPhone, Facebook, LinkedIn, email, Twitter, whatever. When I'm too far from a hotspot,
I get all weak and clammy.
3. I Can Write.
That doesn't mean I want to do your job, hey, after 3 paragraphs, my ADHD kicks in. But when the client sends in corrections, I'll know if they work, can probably fix any problems, or when to schedule the conference call.
4. There's No Hand Holding In DR.
You won't have to educate me, or hold class to get me up to speed. Just give me a few clues and turn me loose. I may even make you look more brilliant than you already are!
5. I'm Easy.
Just tell me what you've got in the budget for design. If it's not obscenely low, I'm good. And I'll give you the same effort whether you're paying me in Kruggerands, or pawpaws. Just pay me on time, would ya?!.
6. Your Clients Will Love Me.
There's a reason I've had the same clients for 10 to 15 years. Work with me and you'll understand why.
7. I Always Make The Deadline.
If we ever miss a deadline or a mail date, it won't be because of me. Guaranteed.
8. I Get It Right The First Time.
I'm famous for getting the job done right within one or two proofs. Don't ask me to explain, you'll jinx my mojo.
9. My Lips Are Sealed.
Loose lips sink ships. I work with dozens of clients, other writers, designers. Some things we can share, some we shouldn't. You can trust me to keep my mouth shut.
10. I Know People.
I can pull together a team of designers, programmers, producers and directors to meet any need the job demands. Whether it's a full blown website, a DRTV spot, or a renewal series for 5 titles, I know who to call, and they're the best in the business. |

"As a direct mail writer, I want my designer to 'make me look good.' In other words, a brilliant designer should take all my black-on-white rantings and cartoonish pencil-sketch concepts and turn them into something cohesive, organized, and stunning to look at.
Oh -- and it needs to generate superior response as well. Dwight does all that and more. He brings his 'A-game' to every assignment and never shies away from my persistent requests for a tweak here or a nip-and-tuck there. And best of all, our collaborations work -- ringing our clients' cash registers and bringing them back for more.
Dwight makes my job easier. And if you're a potential client, he'll do the same for you. Call him! You'll like him -- or he'll refund his part of the fee (just kidding).

“I've been working with Dwight for about 18 years. He is clearly one of the best direct response designers in the industry. He knows all the principles, has a great visual and color sense, and gets the assignment right about 99.9% of the time. He is also an excellent designer for digital work -- banners, emails, landing pages
and web sites
From Rebecca Sterner
Copywriter, and Publishing Consultant
“Working with Dwight is a delight for many reasons. Every renewal effort, direct mail piece and web promotion he has worked on has been beautifully designed. Dwight is able to deliver these well-designed pieces even while working under the constraints of postal regulations, fulfillment specs, tight deadlines, "conservative" budgets, and internet program quirks.
His pieces also are designed around the central premise that they invite response from customers.
As an added bonus, working with Dwight is such a pleasure because he is such a fine human being -- his concern for others, his ability to deliver what is promised, his collaborative nature, and even his Thanksgiving pie recipes make him stand out. I recommend Dwight without reservation."
From Peter Marshall, D2: Direct
I first met Dwight when he hired my company to produce television commercials for one his clients. We were impressed by his professionalism. When he opened his own shop, we began hiring him for various design projects, all with significant success.
Dwight is a highly talented, intuitive designer who has consistently provided my agency and our clients with more than we ask for, always with a great attitude, and he delivers on time and within budget. And that defines a successful professional relationship.
I strongly recommend you contact Dwight, and I feel comfortable saying you will be happy with his input, work ethic, and the final results.
